I have always loved the beach. I lived close to it in The Hague. The smell of the salty water, the wind in my face, the gentle roar of the waves all combine to create a sense of peace and calm. Someone once said "At the beach, life is different. Time doesn't move hour to hour but mood to moment. We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun." Ever had one of those days you just want to drive right past work and straight to the beach? I've had many of those. I've even put a sign in my Calgary backyard pointing west and saying "Beach". I was quite delighted when i discovered the waterfront in Vancouver and Victoria was only a plane ride away - and even accessible by motorcycle. Riding my motorcycle all the way from Calgary to the Pacific Ocean has been one of the most inspiring journeys of my life.
